In 1977, Bill became the Executive Assistant
to the President of LASALLE PROPERTIES, a New Orleans real estate development
firm. He was responsible for planning, design, construction supervision,
and contract administration of improvements to Elmwood Business Park,
a 1200 acre Planned Unit Development which included commercial, office/warehouse,
and multi-family.
Bill moved to Austin, TX, in 1981 to become Vice-President of DOERRING
& ASSOCIATES. Specific projects included the 63-unit Springhollow Condominiums,
which are two single-family subdivisions. Ridgepoint Office Park, a
28 acre office and apartment development: and Westlake Oaks Executive
Park, a 14 acre $10.4 million office project. In May of 1984, he joined
STREET-MARTIN COMPANIES as Project Manager for The Centrum, a 110,000
SF office complex.
He joined TRISOURCE CORPORATION in San
Antonio, TX, in January of 1985 as a Vice-President responsible for
project development and was promoted to President in July 1985. TriSource
was involved in a variety of projects, including five shopping centers
totaling 346,710 SF; six apartment complexes containing 1,642 units;
three condominium projects with 167 units; and a 73,803 SF office building,
for a total development inventory of $104 million. He left TriSource
in March 1986 following the decision of the TriSource principals to
dissolve their partnership. He returned to South Carolina in May of
1986 and accepted a development position as Vice-President with MERRITT
PROPERTIES to develop seven Applebee's restaurants in South Carolina
and Florida. In September of 1987, he formed Crawford Associates, Inc.
to broker and develop commercial properties in the Southeast. To
date, Crawford Associates, Inc. has been involved in the sale and development
of land, shopping centers, apartments, and a hotel in the Carolinas
and Virginia.
Professional licenses include Real Estate
Broker Licenses in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee
and Texas and a Commercial Aircraft Pilots License with Instrument Rating.
He is an active member of the National Association of Realtors, International
Section and the Greenville Board of Realtors, Commercial Investment
Real Estate Institute, International Real Estate Division, and Greenville
Chamber of Commerce. He not only is a Certified Commercial Investment
Member (CCIM) with the Commercial Real Estate Institution (CIREI)
but he also is a Consumer-Certified Real Estate Consultant (C-CREC)
and a Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS)
with the International Section of NAR. Bill currently serves
as Chairman of the Paris Mountain Special Tax District and Director
of a Chamber of Commerce CEO Roundtable. Bill not only is a father of one, but he is also Guardian ad Litem representing the interests of foster kids in the Greenville area.
